And yes, I know some Bronies bullied a girl and broke her arm, I'm not saying it's any less bad than what I mentioned. It's all very bad and serious. I don't want this group going the route of MLP-is-crap. I would like for this group to stay up for its intended purpose of laughing at rabid bronies/haters and sharing parody art with people that share a common dislike, whether it be the show, the fanbase, or both. I mean I don't like both, but it's not that the group is against the show. We're all here for laughs, sharing art, and hopefully making friends among some of the members here.
Now, please... can we not give this group a bad reputation?
Message from Joosh-Face concerning the suicide attempt of the 11 year old brony: Would you be so harsh if he wasn't a brony? What if he was getting bullied for liking a different show, like say, Adventure Time? What if instead, he was getting bullied by bronies for not liking MLP? Way I see it, doesn't matter what someone's interests are, no one should be pushed into suicide.
Still, this group SHOULD NOT EXIST!
1.It exists for a reason
2.This group is against the fantards that take the show WAY too seriously.
3.It's not against all bronies, only the rabid ones that shove ponies into everyones face.
Go tell that to every other anti-group on dA. Not just the MLP ones, every single anti-group on dA.
There is the most obvious cause and problem in the whole mess. The fact that everyone is differentiate themselves from normal people.
Don't get me wrong, we're all fans of something but when we start coining them like false idols people are going to tend to view others differently because how they or other have made to stand out.
Honestly people complain about sonic fandom but when honestly was the last time you saw Sonic fanshit all over non-related places on a consistent basis? Or Trekies? Or Star Wars? Or any other popuplar fandom? Because i'll be honest, not one of those have ever been drilled into anything as hard as MLP and people are sick of it.
I'd even go so far as to say this is probably how Atheist few Religion in general.
People hate differences, I mean history has shown we would kill people just over skin color. You really think people are any better off now as back then?
Though I feel pity that the kid went that far. And shame for the parents who were ignorant of the whole thing.
When will you people stop trying prove you're different when we're all the same anyway? Because not a single person in this thread, this internet, this existence and in any point in time will ever be...different.
Now stop calling yourselves bronies. It's fucking stupid.
I don't care what it's over, I also don't care the person's age. All of this is irrelevant.
My problem is from both ends... actually 3 ends. Someone likes a show/game/movie/toy/person... okay? Why the fuck bullies or ANYONE for that matter bloody care? That's the part I never understood with people. I mean I would understand if the person maybe was annoying and shoving things down your face like the Rabid Fans of ANYTHING out there.
You like MLP? Good, just don't overdo it. COD? Same thing. Anime? Same. Foods? Same thing!
The next problem would have to be the kid. Now I'm not really pissed off at him, but these days there should be many ways to somehow contact someone when this shit is happening. Parents? Friends? Anyone? I understand the whole "Don't snitch" crap, but really now. I hope whoever stopped him (I'm guessing they did seeing as you said attempt and not that he succeeded) give them a good long talk and let them know what he did and what he could do in the future before it even get that far again.
If I were to care about age, then I would let it slide over this suicide attempt as I would say he's inexperience in life. If he was much much older I would question his actions a bit more.
Now the next problem is everyone else in the situation as not everyone can be the victim and/or the bully. Mind you, I don't know much about the story other than what I'm reading here as I was not around when this mess occurred, but how did it get so far that the kid wanted to kill themselves? Was no one helping/defending the kid?
I wish to bring this up in reply to all of the folks saying this kid shouldn't have attempted off himself for being bullied on part of your own child hood experiences. www.chicagonow.com/portrait-of…
To sum it up, you're half-right. What I get from these articles is that the kid may not have had someone his own age outside of his family to share his hobbies with. Even if the kid didn't like MLP, he could've still came off as gay. But the biggest problem I have with the concern of labeling it as simply bullying is that this is a MIDDLE school. Not elementary or even kindergarten. Kids will get on to the internet whether their parents want them to or not. Especially the aggressive kids. They will find MLP due to it being all over the place. They'll eventually find Anti-MLP and they will join straight in. As for whether the bullies WERE anti-MLP is up in the air. Simply put, you try opening up after potentially killing a person.
But there is also this.
If there is no comment from the school, then there is no way to know whether they're trying come up with PR or are simply going to label the case off as bullying or even worse, literally acknowledged the kid's hobbies and "choices" in life and just let it happen to "toughen" him up.
Finally, to those who want to say that the kid didn't speak up, please present an article. The one I found stated that the kid was open about being bullied. I don't care if you did "research". Link it or shut up. I'm really happy to find a group that isn't trying to fellate each other for brownie points and I don't have the interest in dealing with any posters that have more speculation than anything else.
Also, like of the other comments say, the kids were not anti bronies; but rather just your stereotypical school bullies. Hey, accept people's differences! From my experiences in school, I was taught to accept other's differences, even if they don't match up.
In my point of view, it's not only the bullies' fault that the kid's in this situation, but also his family's and the school's fault. Personally, if I get bullied to the point I can't handle it, I would tell authorities as soon as possible. From my experiences, this work. But from what I've researched so far, no one seemed to do anything about it!
I also kinda blame the love and tolerance thing because, you can't tolerate things forever.
These Kids were Bullies, not Anti Bronies.
When I was 12/ 13 I was bullied for being obsessed with Digimon. These mofus would've also bullied me if I was obsessed with any other cartoon. And, hah, I was close to doing something worse than just killing myself. Where's my journal? Kids are cruel, that's nothing new.
Don't get me wrong - it angers me to the max whenever I read about young people being bullied to the point where they want to kill themselves.
I just really doubt that any of us would bully someone in RL over liking a cartoon.
plus, we're not forgetting that this about an 11 year old kid. if you had a kid of your own who liked MLP, whenever you liked it too or not, how would you feel if yours tried to commit suicide too because of it?
i'd feel horrible, if you ask me.)
there's things that ain't worth risk a life for, and a fandom is part of it, if he wake up someone should tell him that one can like the show AND don't be a brony in order to do that. But if he decided to not take a good advice from someone who's wise and decided to go deep in the fandom despite of all, well is his life.
I feel very bad for the family of the 11 year old boy. It was a terrible incident, that was preventable if the bullies hadn't bullied him. I've been bullied, and it sucks, especially for a child. However, what kills me is the bronies wishing death on the bullies, also 11 year old children, because the kid was a brony. You should never tell anyone they should kill themselves, or that they need to die. Especially children. And more importantly, don't wish death on children if you are an adult.
It's truly disgusting.
I applaud the high maturity of this journal and I respect you and Joosh-face for it.
